3 months old today... so off we went to visit Diana the Child Health Nurse for a bit of prodding, poking and measuring! For those interested in my vital statistics, I now weigh 6.430kg, my length is 65cm and my head circumference is 43cm. All above average of course!
The weather has taken a cooler turn so I wore the pyjamas which Auntie Kate gave me with long arms and long legs for the first time last night. Mum and Dad usually check on me before they go to bed and stand over my bassinette commenting on my cuteness which I rather enjoy! Last night, around 11pm Mum decided to close the french door to my bedroom since it was raining outside and a draught was coming from the back room. However, she hadn’t realised that the door hinge would make a very loud squeak as she moved it. The noise woke me up and I let out a huge cry and couldn’t be consoled for quite some time. In fact, I could only be consoled by each of Mum’s breasts for a few minutes each! A sneaky way to get an extra feed for the day! I reckon Mum will be out in the garden shed in the morning, looking for the CRC to quieten the door hinge!

After the other Mums quizzing my Mum at the Mother’s group yesterday about me sleeping through the night, when I have my last feed, how many feeds I have during the day etc… I decided to have another night feed last night just to keep Mum on her toes!
Today we went to the Open House group at the hospital, today’s topic was the female cycle and returning to fertility, hmmm… glad I slept through that! One of the sisters who volunteer to look after us while the Mums have their chit chat told my Mum that there is now another little boy called Max who goes to the Thursday afternoon group, he is only a few weeks old.
I have found that a good way to hang on to Mum is to get a good handful of her hair, then if she holds me in an uncomfortable position or I feel like I am going to slip, I can just hang on to her hair even tighter! I didn’t get much chance to play with my toys at the weekend because there was always someone around to hold me, but now I am home I have worked out that I can use my hands or feet to hit the Big Bird and Cookie Monster toys which hang from the frame which Mum lies me under when she has to dash off to the loo.

I slept in Mum and Dad’s room last night and woke for a night feed again! Kate, Alan and Claudia drove back to Perth this morning and we went home mid afternoon after another lovely weekend away. This weekend will be remembered for our invigorating daily walks along the beach path with the sound of the waves breaking on the beach and also me walking unaided… just kidding that was Claudia's milestone, not mine!
Sunday, March 27, 2005
Auntie Kate, Uncle Alan, Claudia, Mum, Dad and I went down to the beach with our respective beach shelters. We decided that ours is the best since it has a floor in it. Mum took me into the cold water this time. Does it count as a swim if I only got my toes wet? Back at the house, Dad and I stood under the outdoor shower and got rid of the gritty stuff from between my toes. Its so annoying that the gritty stuff is spread all over the beach and it finds its way into all my little crevices.
Nanna organised a lovely Easter lunch for us all today and also invited my Dad’s Auntie Nan and Uncle George, Fiona, Kevin, Cliff and Sonia, there was also some of Poppa’s children and grandchildren and other friends too. After lunch, Poppa led an expedition to the marina to visit his yacht and those who went to see it ended up on board and sailing out to sea. They phoned us from the yacht to let us know so that we could look out and see them sailing along in front of the house.
Tonight Nanna suggested I sleep in the walk-in robe in her and Poppa’s bedroom upstairs so that Mum and Dad could get a better sleep. Dad setup my bassinette in there and I slept soundly through the night. I can now say that I have slept in Nanna’s knicker drawer!

The next morning, Mum and I went for a walk along the beach path again and just as we got back to the house, Auntie Kate, Uncle Alan and Claudia arrived. Mum and I went inside for my next meal and Claudia greeted me my hitting me on the head while I was feeding. I will note that one down because although Claudia is 10 months older, it won’t be long before I'm bigger than her! I must sit her down and tell her not to do that annoying high pitched squealing which she seems to think is entertaining, it certainly gets everyone’s attention! And while I’m giving her free advice, I’ll tell her to chill out so that she can get to sleep as easily as I do so that the rest of us don’t have to tiptoe around the house.
Nanna, Poppa and Molly (the dog) arrived this afternoon. Since we had a full house, I slept in Mum and Dad’s room tonight. I slept like a baby although Mum and Dad tossed and turned while they listened to my cute little sleeping noises. I decided to wake during the night for the first time in a week but Mum and I soon remembered how I like to be fed in the middle of the night!

Yay we’re going to Mandurah for the weekend again! Dad worked long days this week so we could leave before lunch to start our long weekend early. Dad helped pack some things into the car last night, so this time Mum didn't have such a busy morning and we were only an hour later than planned leaving to collect Dad from work!
We relaxed in the afternoon and took a stroll along the beachside path at sunset. We had the house to ourselves the first night, I had my own bedroom and we really enjoyed the peace…
I've discovered that the two middle fingers on my left hand slot neatly into my mouth, and can be used for those times when Mum keeps me waiting unnecessarily for my feeds. With the two fingers in my mouth, the other two fingers point upwards against my cheeks, one either side of my mouth, making an interesting 'two finger salute'.

I'm up to 5 nights in a row now and Mum and Dad look very well rested and happy with me in the morning so I'll see if I can keep sleeping through the night!
This afternoon Nanna and Poppa came to visit with my Dad's Auntie Rose. They stayed for afternoon tea and got to see me smiling and entertaining. Auntie Rose was chuffed that she got me to laugh, it was only because of the funny faces she was pulling! Mum called Grannie and Grandad in New Zealand to wish them a Happy Easter. They blew kisses down the phone for me and Mum gave me specials hugs from them too.
It got to 41.9 degrees today which is a very hot temperature for March. Mum had the air conditioning in my room on today and she fed me in there too otherwise we both get hot. Dad came home from work early especially to see me before I went to bed. I currently have my last feed around 5 pm and go to bed around 6pm. And then no one hears from me again until around 6am!

Slept right through another night... I'm becoming really good at it now! This morning we went to the beach. We sat in our beach shelter for a while and then Dad insisted we go into the big cold water bath again so I put on my special nappy and long swimsuit. Dad held me like last time and we went up and down so that I didn't get too scared at how cold the water was. No one had checked the water temperature with their elbow like Mum does at home and it put quite a surprised expression on my face! Normally in the bath I make all the waves, but in this one they came by themselves and one caused little spots of water to splash my face, they tasted strange too.
We had a surprise visit from Donna, Michael, Tessa and Soren this morning. Everyone sat outside under the shady tree while I slept inside but I didn't wake up until the exact moment that they left the house. Next week is bulk rubbish collection in our area, so today Dad was roaming the garden with secateurs and tree pruning equipment looking for things to cut down. He and Mum got the garden looking tidier. There was a steady stream of cars, trailers and utes going along our street checking out the pile outside each house for anything useful. Nothing but green waste outside our house!

Surely I can't keep breaking the record for my longest sleep?! Last night I slept for 12 hours and boy was I keen to latch on as soon as Mum's breasts came into view this morning. I could see that Mum had her own problems because she had big wet patches on her bra and in the bed because she had trouble holding all my milk for so long.
This morning Mum, Dad and I went for a walk around Wembley. We stopped in at the bike shop to buy a spare type tube for the pram so that next time we get a flat tyre Dad will be able to fix it for us at home. Auntie Kate called in after lunch to say hello and have a peek at me although I pretended to be asleep so she didn't get to pick me up.
Yesterday Theresa came to visit Mum and I, this afternoon we all went to her house to look at a lounge suite she is selling because she is moving house. Mum and Dad decided to buy it and said that the multi-colour pattern is very practical and won't show any baby spew! A new couch should stop Mum complaining about the comfort of the one we have now!

Since the official Mother group is finished, the Mums and babies will continue to meet and today we got together at Zamia cafe in Kings Park. We wouldn't recommend the cafe for "baby-friendliness", they wouldn't give a jug of hot water to heat the bottle of milk for baby Emma who was sitting next to me. The rest of us were lucky enough to have our milk on tap at the right temperature.
After the get-together, I was asleep in the pram and Mum thought she'd take me for a walk in my pram in Kings Park. She got a little disoriented on the bush tracks (she grumbled that she should write to the Park Management to suggest better signs) and consequently walked a little further than she'd planned before we found our way back to the car and were on our way home.
Nanna returned from Canberra this afternoon and went to visit Claudia and then came to see me. She ate dinner with Mum and Dad while I sat in the bouncer on the floor and stared longingly at Mum's breasts. She eventually finished her lasagne and got down to the business of feeding me.

Today we all went to the zoo! We met up with Uncle Al, Auntie Kate and Claudia there. Claudia is 10½ months older than me, and she was very excited to see the various animals especially the tigers because she is good at making tiger noises. I had my photo taken in front of the rhino enclosure, I also saw the head of a very tall animal called a giraffe, but apart from that I stayed in my pram and dozed. Mum and Dad decided not to buy an annual family pass for the zoo until next year!
Nanna and Poppa are still away in Canberra but I am sure Nanna will be sad to have missed a day out at the zoo with both her gorgeous grandchildren!
Speaking of zoos... our new next door neighbours have moved in after several months of to-ing and fro-ing. We could tell when they finally moved in permanently because their loud corella (a type of parrot) came with them and began its regular squawking. It also imitates a telephone ring and possibly talks too. The neighbours also have 2 little dogs, one is a 3 legged-daschund named Patsy!

Tonight we were invited to Rick and Michelle's house to celebrate the completion of their pergola. Mum saw this as an opportunity to dress me in a little white and navy blue sailor's outfit which was amongst the clothes passed on to us by Michelle. My very cute look prompted Dad to make inappropriate comments about my future sexuality but I think he was just bitter that they don't sell sailor suits in his size.

This morning we went to Woolworths at Floreat Forum shopping centre to buy some nappies. This was the first time that Mum had sat me in the baby capsule which is fitted to the top of some shopping trolleys. It was very exciting... so many bright lights, loud noises and bumps to go over (to stop skateboarders going down the ramp into the carpark) but my Mum could look down and reassure me which was nice for us both.
This evening, we three went to Julio's restaurant to celebrate Mum and Dad's 2nd wedding anniversary. I went too since Nanna and Poppa weren't able to look after me because they were attending the Parliamentary Reception for Crown Prince Frederick and Princess Mary of Denmark, at Parliament House in Canberra. As usual, I sat quietly in my capsule beside the table and the waiter would never have known that I was there except that I was eyeballing Dad and he kept looking down at me.
Since the tradition for a 2nd wedding anniversary is cotton, Mum and I had bought Dad some underpants today. He looked very excited to receive them, especially in a smart restaurant. Mum said that since next year its leather, he had better watch out!

Wow what a big weekend, I slept ALL NIGHT (12 hours) and caught up on some sleep after doing so many new things at the weekend. It was exhausting being cuddled by Nanna so much!
Mum and I went to the last of the 4 Mothers Groups at the Shenton Park Child Health Clinic today. I weighed in at 6.18kg so I'm doing alright with feeding apparently. We're looking forward to joining the same group of Mums and babies next week when we have arranged to meet in a cafe.
After the Mothers group, Mum and I went to the supermarket to buy groceries. This was my first time in the supermarket without being in the safety of my pram. I was asleep in my car capsule so Mum sat it on the top of the trolley and went up and down the aisles with me asleep. I only woke at the end to see that she spent more than $200!

Today Mum and Dad walked down to the beach. We sat in the new beach shelter which is large enough for all of us to stay out of the sun. The sun was hot but I was protected by my new bathing suit with a little swimmers nappy underneath! Dad and I swam in the sea which is so much larger than the swimming pool we swam in a few weeks ago, the water tasted different too. I was so tuckered out that I fell asleep as Mum was carrying me home so I didn't get to see the blue tongue lizard which was walking across the path, and I slept in my new swimsuit!
We drove back to Perth before dinner. Nanna said that it was nice to have us to stay so that she could get to know me better. I enjoyed her cuddles too!

I had my usual early morning feed, but then we all slept in until 9.30am, then Dad went to buy hot cross buns for breakfast.
After lunch, Mum Dad and I visited John and Michelle and their little girl Rhiannon who is 6, they live in Mandurah too. Rhiannon was very friendly and talked alot to me, she even brought her dwarf lop rabbit Dusty inside the house to see us!
Later on, Mum Dad and I went for a walk in the pram. It started off with Mum pushing me in the pram along the beach but they soon decided that even with large tyres, the pram doesn't go too well on the beach. They continued on the beachside path and watched the sun set before we headed home for Nanna's meatballs for tea.

I awoke to the new sound of waves crashing on the beach! Today I had the unusual experience of being fed my Dad instead of Mum. He didn't hold me close to his chest like Mum does but held a bottle for me to suck from. It took me a little while to realise that is where my lunch was coming from, but I soon got the hang of sucking.
We drove down to the marina to see Poppa's new yacht. He recently bought it in Queensland, and it only arrived here 2 days ago. It is 43 feet long and its name is 'White Heather'. He looked as proud as punch of it and we all went aboard. I slept below decks as the others checked it all out and had a cup of tea. I wore my All Blacks outfit in honour of the boat's Kiwi origins!
Mum escaped for a walk along the beachside path in the late afternoon and Nanna settled me to sleep. Then after dinner, Mum and Dad went out to the movies while Nanna and Poppa stayed with me at the house. Nanna settled me to bed soon after they left and no one heard a peep from me until the early hours of the morning.

Mum spent all morning packing things into the car for our first family holiday. We're going to Mandurah for the weekend to spend it with Nanna and Poppa at their beachside house there. By the time Mum and I left the house it was mid afternoon and Mum was exhausted! We collected Dad from work and headed south...
PS You might think that since I haven't made any additions to this blog so far this week, I haven't been up to anything at all. In fact, I have been waiting for my ghost writer (Mum) to turn on the computer for me so that I can type!
