Mum had entered us all in the 4km walk as part of the City to Surf Fun run today, but when we woke up about 7am it was raining. Mum fed me, Dad mumbled something about a $44 donation to the City to Surf and we all rolled over and went back to sleep! Later on when it had stopped raining, Dad went to watch volleyball and Mum took me for a walk in the pram to the Wembley Food hall to meet up with Yien, Mike and family who were there for lunch before they headed back to Bunbury.

Today was my first lunch out… and it was at Meads! This is the very nice seafood restaurant on the water where Mum and Dad held their wedding reception. Today we went there for lunch with Melanie. We all had a very nice leisurely lunch, I behaved nicely for a whole 3 hours before we all headed home for a late afternoon snooze. First, Mum had to head next door to ask the neighbours to temporarily quieten their noisy parrot (by covering up his cage) because it is so noisy for the guest bedroom and Melanie couldn’t sleep. I am lucky that my bedroom is not so close, but I guess I’m used to it now and the noise doesn’t worry me.

Auntie Kate came over to look after me while Mum and Dad delivered Melanie to the airport for her long flight home before they headed to Mark Tucek’s 40th birthday party with a RED theme. Dad wore ¾ length trousers, red knee length socks and a red Hawaiian print shirt… hmmmm! Mum’s red and black top was a little more “with it” despite winning an award for the hugest shoulder pads in history!

Tonight Dad and Melanie came home late from the conference because there was a dinner at the end of the last day. Dad was carrying a bottle of champagne and a certificate for the best speaker so he was looking quite pleased with himself when he came in to kiss me goodnight.

This morning Mum and I went to the airport to collect Dad’s online friend Melanie who had flown all the way from New York, she and Dad will be attending and giving presentations at the AUSOUG (Oracle) conference in Perth over the next 2 days. Melanie brought me a cool white and pale blue cow, Mum decided we would call him Schwarz since he has a tag on his butt which says F.A.O. Schwarz which Melanie said is the name of a big toy store in New York. Mum said that we’ll go there to visit Melanie (and the toy store) one day.

Today Mum was brave enough to take me and Molly for a walk at the same time. With a short leash, Molly was OK and she actually pulled us both along a bit so that Mum didn’t have to push as hard as usual! Molly thought it was her lucky day because I dropped a rusk overboard from my high chair and she snapped it up and ate it within world record time.

Last night Mum dressed me in my first size 1 outfit, a blue/white striped all in one, also known as my PJ’s. The legs were a little long, but since they have fitted feet, they fit better when I’m at full stretch or sitting up. Mum laughed this morning when she unzipped me out of my sleeping bag, I was wriggling like a mermaid because both of my legs had got into the left leg of the outfit after I had been kicking around so much during the night.

Our weekend mornings usually with a family snuggle in the big bed and of course a breastfeed for me. Today was no exception and while Mum fed me in bed, Dad got up and made Mum breakfast.

This morning Mum and Dad did some weeding and planting out vege plants in the back garden. They sat me in the Activity Centre on the table in the back garden (so that Molly couldn’t lick my toes!) and I could keep an eye on them.

After lunch, Mum went to a Tupperware party at Sam’s house (where we go for Mum’s group on Tuesdays). Mum fed me and put me down for an afternoon sleep before she went and Dad settled down to an afternoon of TV watching but I just couldn’t sleep. By the time Mum came home. I had very red eyes and I was very tired. Mum showed us the goodies that she won in a raffle at the Tupperware party. Mum fed me some milk and then some avocado and pumpkin. Afterwards we went for a family walk, Mum chose to push me in the pram while Dad tried to discipline Molly on the leash a bit (I think Mum was glad she could push the pram!)

Dad couldn't believe how much my eating has improved since last weekend. This morning he fed me in about 10 minutes and I kept quite clean too! I still like an avocado base, but I can have carrot or pumpkin mixed in it with it now (but not too much broccoli please or my face screws up!)

The weather was wet and windy today so the scheduled BBQ for ex-BHPers couldn’t be held but we instead had it at Paul Winthrop’s house in Bull Creek. Amber (from Busselton) was there with her Mum Karen and Dad Russell and their new puppy Bella, she is Beagle and is very cute.

After all the excitement of the BBQ and eating some avocado from the salad, Mum thought I might like to sleep on the spare bed but I just couldn’t do it and I cried until Mum came back to pick me up. She tried again to settle me and it was only after we were on our way home that Mum wondered if I was hungry! She hadn’t fed me since before lunchtime so I think that might have been it! Mum fed me when we got home and I then went straight to sleep! Cathy and Craig invited us all to watch the Bledisloe Cup rugby at their house on the big screen tonight but since I had such an unsettled afternoon, Mum and Dad decided we’d stay at home. Mum said afterwards it was a pity that we didn’t go since the Kiwis won by a mile!

After I got up this morning, Mum sat me on her knee on the floor and formally introduced me to Molly. Mum thought Molly might like to sniff me and check me out so that she wouldn’t bark at me again but then she licked my toes and held her wet nose up close to my face and sniffed me all over. I think she might have licked me too but I had my eyes shut by then and Mum was trying to shoo Molly away. Molly’s whiskers tickled my face and she made me chuckle which made Mum laugh too. Mum finds it especially funny when I laugh by myself (instead of her making me laugh.)

Mum fed me avocado and pumpkin for breakfast… hmmmm!? Anyway, I ate it despite being distracted by Molly circling underneath the high chair waiting for any stray food to fall! I then played for a bit before I went to bed for my morning nap. While I was getting to sleep Mum had a shower and then made herself a coffee. Just as she was heading to the study to check her emails she caught sight of Molly on the back lawn chewing something. Mum thought she had better check what Molly was up to and found that she was chewing her way through a cockroach bait! Molly is never good at sharing her toys and so Mum had a hard time trying to get the remains of the chewed bait off her! Eventually Mum threw a tennis ball and luckily Molly decided to drop the bait and go after the ball instead.

After phone calls to the Poisons Hotline, Molly’s Vet and Molly’s mother, Mum came to wake me up and after being at our house for less than 12 hours Molly was on her way to the Vet! Molly barked at a dog being walked along our street and this was very loud in my ear so I cried. Poor Mum was doing her best to drive with a whinging and barking dog and a crying baby. Molly whinged and whined all the way in the car which made Mum nervous, she didn’t want Molly dying on her shift! (It turns out that Molly always does this in the car!) Luckily Molly went in the back of the station wagon behind the cargo barrier else she would have jumped all over me. We eventually got to the vet where Molly got a warm welcome because she is such a naughty dog and has been there many times before (including the time she had her pancreas removed and was on life support for a week after she ate too many sausages!)

The vet made Molly throw up and they kept her there all afternoon for observation and Dad picked her up later. Luckily Molly was OK, and when we got home Mum checked the house over for any other cockroach baits! After all the excitement this morning, Mum was quite glad that my swimming class this afternoon was cancelled because Mally was sick.

I went to bed around 7pm as usual and I had been asleep for an hour or so when there was a loud barking noise in my bedroom. I woke up with a fright because I hadn’t heard a noise like that before and I cried to let Mum and Dad know that I was afraid. I heard Dad yelling ‘Molly’ and Mum came to cuddle me. It turns out that Molly is Auntie Kate’s dog who has come to stay with us for 10 days while they are away on holiday. Molly is a cocker spaniel who is very well disciplined and seems to do what she likes! After a cuddle and Molly banished to the laundry, I resumed sleeping.

Mum tells me that I am eating really well now. I'm trying to help reduce the amount of washing Mum has to do so I try to keep my hands away from the spoon now but I do still like to get hold of it at the end and have a chew. I drink quite nicely from my cup when Mum holds it up for me, I have a special cup that doesn't leak water when I tip it up and throw it round. I still like my avocado but at least I can have a few other things mixed in to it now. Next week Mum is taking me back to Diana the Child Health Nurse and so Mum is trying to fatten me up a bit before then!

I'm sitting up lots with Mum sitting behind me, she needs to help me out because I sometimes take a dive. If Mum leaves me lying on the floor, I can roll one way or the other to pick up the toys which always seem to be mysteriously placed just beyond my reach.

Today at swimming, it was the big day that we all got to go underwater. It wasn't such a huge event for me because I went under once in the baby splash class and I have had a couple of quick dips in the bath (some on purpose and some not, but that's another story...) So Dad came along with the camera and when it was time, Mum blew on my face and lowered me down and counted so that I was under the water for the right amount of time and didn't panic and bring me up too quickly. I was really proud of her, she didn't freak out and pull me up really quickly or grab me for a cuddle to reassure me when really it was her who was probably in need of reassuring. I didn't look super enthused, but at least I didn't cry!

Our power was turned off from 9am - 3pm today for electrical maintenance in our street. It was a chilly day but we couldn't have the heater or the lights on all day. Mum couldn't even use the breadmaker to cook bread to take to dinner at Nanna's this evening!

We went to Nanna's house for dinner because on Friday she and Poppa are off to Sydney for Poppa to have an operation. Claudia had a cough so she and Auntie Kate and Uncle Alan didn't come and I got all of Nanna's attention. Mum bathed me in Nanna's laundry trough and then gave me my nightly massage on a towel by the heater and everyone marvelled over the beauty of my nakedness! I went off to sleep in my portacot and later on I woke up when Nanna picked me up and took me to Mum's car and strapped me into my seat fort he drive home. I sat wide-eyed as Mum drove me home and then went off to sleep back in my own bed.
