Today Mum took me to see Jan, she is a physio who helped me to do lots of different movements so that she could check me out. We were referred to her by Diana our Child Health Nurse to make sure I have no particular problems with regards to crawling. It turns out that I am just a happy little boy and I like to sit and lie and roll, but that's all the moment thanks very much.
Jan showed Mum some exercises which she can do with me to help me improve my muscle tone. Unfortunately I am very aware that they are therapy and I'm not too keen on participating!

Since we missed 3 weeks of swimming while Mum and I were away in New Zealand, we have been going to some extra lessons for the past 3 Saturdays. It is nice for Dad to come along and get in the pool with me. He even sings 'The Wheels on the Bus' and the other songs for me. In the Saturday class its mostly the Dads that are in the pool with us.
I am off my food a bit at the moment. Mum and Dad think I'm teething and are carefully checking regularly for the appearance of a new tooth!

Today when Dad came home work, we all went to visit Poppa in Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. He was very pleased to see me, even though we only visited him in hospital in Sydney a week ago. He is pleased to be back in Perth and he and Nanna are looking forward to seeing Claudia and I more often.

Nanna and Poppa flew back to Perth from Sydney today! It's less than a week since we saw them and we're all very happy that they will now be in Perth so that we can visit them more often.
Today Mum went to her nice dentist Lisa and I went along too. Mum asked for some tips on brushing my teeth, and Lisa gave me my own (pink!) toothbrush and showed Mum how to brush my four teeth.

I woke at 3am this morning, as bright as a button! Poor Mum is off to work today, and I’m staying home with Daddy daycare so it was Dad’s turn to see what he could do to get me to settle back to bed!
All in all, we had a good day and I got plenty of sleep and so I hope to be back into my usual routine now.

I woke at 4am, Mum said I was confused by the change of time zone but she breastfed me anyway. I didn’t want to settle in Mum’s bed so she put me back into my portacot but I didn’t like that either. About 6am, Nanna came in to get me and take me next door to her room. Mum must have thought that I walked out of her room by myself because she was trying to sleep but could hear my crying disappear into the distance!
It was soon obvious that we were all up for the day so I had my breakfast and played in Nanna’s room. She found keys, bags, belts, boxes and all sorts of things for me to play with. I had a sleep about 8am which kept me going until we went to visit Poppa mid morning. We said hello and goodbye to Poppa and took some photos with him and then Mum, Nanna and I walked back to our hotel and got into the taxi we had booked to the airport. Unfortunately we had only gone a couple of blocks when the taxi pulled into a service station and the driver opened the bonnet. The taxi had overheated and would not be going any further, so the driver called another taxi for us. With one hour before our flight, when we were meant to be at the airport we were still sitting at the Star Mart in North Sydney. Luckily our replacement taxi soon arrived, the driver quickly installed the child seat which he was carrying in the boot, and we were on our way to the airport. We were late but got checked in OK and Nanna walked us to the gate where we had to say goodbye to her. I was a bit tired by that stage and when Nanna went to give me one last kiss I burst out crying!
We were soon on the plane sitting next to a very tolerant man which was lucky because I fidgeted and grizzled all the way to Perth. Although I had a bassinet right in front of Mum, I didn’t want to be in it at all, let alone lie down in it, and all I really wanted to do was pull on the cord connecting the man’s earphones to the socket! Mum was exhausted by the time we got to Perth and we were very glad to see Dad welcoming us when we got off the plane. I had a big smile and cuddle for him and we were soon on our way home.
All in all very successful trip and I am now a seasoned traveller! I wonder when my Frequent Flyer membership will arrive?

Mum picked me up from my cot at 4.30am and carried me to the car after I said goodbye to Grandma. Mum drove Grandpa and I to the Auckland Airport where Mum and I arrived 2½ weeks ago. Dad phoned at 5am to say that he was just going to bed at midnight in Perth! I was awake and looking around for a while and then I slept for about an hour on the way.
At the airport, Mum got us checked in and then Mum and Grandpa had coffee after I had my usual weetbix and banana breakfast. We said goodbye to Grandpa and then Mum bought me an All Blacks beanie! We got on the plane and had a seat and a bassinet in the first row of economy next to a nice man who smiled at me because I kept smiling at him!
I sat in the bassinet and Mum threw in lots of things for me to play with while she ate her breakfast. But then I didn’t want to lie down and sleep. So Mum held me and I eventually slept for about 45 minutes.
We touched down in Sydney on time, Nanna met us and gave me a very tight snuggle before we caught a taxi to her hotel in Crows Nest. Poppa was soon on the phone to ask where we were, so we took a short walk to the hospital where he is staying. Although he couldn’t hold me, Poppa was very pleased to see me and Nanna and Mum held me where Poppa could see me and I played nicely with various toys which came within reach. Poppa didn’t look as happy as he used to, but I did my best to smile and make him happy.
I ate my lunch in the lobby then Mum, Nanna and I walked to the shops with me in the little fold up stroller. Mum and Nanna had lunch at Macro, a yummy health food market (all Mum gave me to eat there was a rusk!) Nanna bought me and Claudia some clothes before we went back to the hotel and I had an afternoon sleep. I slept so well that Mum and Nanna had to wake me at 6pm. We headed back to see Poppa again and I had dinner at the hospital. Later, we came back to the hotel for Nanna to bath me (I showed her my good splashing!), massage and dress me and then give me my bottle before bed. I had a portacot setup in Mum’s room and Nanna’s room is right next door with an adjoining door.
Nanna went back to see Poppa and Mum watched TV next door in Nanna’s room and ordered a huge meal from room service. Nanna came back later and chatted.

This morning, Mum, Grandad, Alan, Lauren and Jack and I all went to the town pool for a swim. Unfortunately, when we got there, there was a swimming carnival on and the pool was closed to the public! So instead, we walked through the Rose Gardens and alongside the river to the Memorial Park where I went on a swing and Lauren pushed me. I was having a great time until Lauren stopped me suddenly from behind and I got a fright!
After lunch I couldn’t sleep (and therefore neither could Mum!) so we decided to go back to the pool for a swim unfortunately Alan couldn’t come because he was milking the cows. We had a lot of fun and Mum helped me show Grandpa my moves in the water then we sat and chilled out in the warmer shallow pool and I splashed lots. I fell asleep in the car on the way home but I woke up for my bath and dinner and then I had lots of goodbye snuggles with everyone and Grandma fed me my final bottle.

After breakfast, Mum, Alan, Lauren, and Jack walked along the road with me in the pram to meet Bev, a nice Aussie neighbour. Mum and Jack and I walked home while the others went to look at calves. Today we had a big lunch with William, Rose and John Shaw who all came too. Mum took some video and photos of everyone together and after lunch we all went for a walk together with 2 goats and dog too!
After my afternoon sleep, Alan, Lauren and Jack came to pick me up after they heard me ‘singing’ on the baby monitor. I ate my dinner early as usual but I dithered on and started spitting out my yoghurt so I got to see everyone else sit down for their meal too. After dinner we said goodbye to William, Rose and John Shaw because we won’t see them again before we leave.

I woke at 6am and after Mum fed me in her bed, she tried to doze off again but I found that my little fingers easily fit up her nostrils and that soon put a stop to any sleep! After breakfast Grandpa and Grandma took me for a walk in the pram while Mum went to the chiropractor again and Alan went too.
Then Mum, Grandpa and I went to town and had lunch out with Heather, a friend of Grandpa’s. We sat in our usual table at Robert Harris (same as with Tania last week) and I rocked just as much in the high chair again! Then Mum and I visited Dave Owen who Mum went to Intermediate and High School with about 25 years ago! We met his wife Ange and baby Jessica who is 6 months old. We met Lauren and Jack after school and took them home. I had a sleep while Mum finished mowing the lawn. Later on, Mum, Grandma, Lauren and I went for a walk and we met up with Alan and Alice on the motorbike.

I woke early at 5.15 and after Mum breastfed me in her bed, I fell asleep and Mum took a photo of me because I didn’t wake when she got up for a shower. Grandma and Grandpa were out so Mum and I had lunch by ourselves and then we lay on a rug in the shade under the mandarin tree. I picked grass and ate a few daisies after I’d had enough of the toys. Alan brought Alice to visit later on and she sniffed at my toes, but Mum was there to make sure she didn’t nibble on them like Lucy the big goat did. Mum laid me on a towel and I emptied Grandma’s peg basket over myself while she got all the dry washing in. Mum cooked pasta for tea while Grandma bathed me, massaged me and then fed me my bottle before I went to bed.

I slept through the night until almost 7am which Mum was very happy with! After breakfast, Mum and Uncle Alan went to Hamilton and left me in Grandpa and Grandma daycare, they took me in the pram for a walk to the cottage with Sam and Lucy. I woke up late for lunch and got to see the new gadget, the digital camera that Uncle Alan had bought while he and Mum were out. Later on, Mum and Grandma took me for a walk in the pram to see Clementine, also know as the ‘Guatemalan Cow of Paradise.’ Uncle Alan came too to protect me from the bulls which are in with the cow herd at the moment. Mum videoed my first up close and personal bovine encounter and took plenty of video and photos for Dad because he’ll be suspicious that Clementine isn’t in fact the same cow! He may want to compare the photos to the ones Mum took last year to check her markings!

I woke at 5.15… Mum drove Grandpa to a meeting Pukeatua while I slept this morning so that we could have the car later to meet Mum’s friend Tania for lunch in town. I found the high chair in the café a bit slippery but as long as Mum held it with her foot to stop me rocking it too much, it seemed to be OK! Afterwards, Mum took me to visit Maureen and her husband Dave so that he could see what all the fuss about me is about! I was worn out by the challenge of playing with everything in Maureen’s large toy basket and I slept in the car on the way home. After I was in bed, Mum went for a sunset walk around the farm and then she and Grandpa rang to sing Happy Birthday to Poppa because its his birthday today!
Monday, November 07, 2005
After lunch, Mum and Grandma and I went to town and visited some friends of Grandma’s, Elizabeth and Daphne and Harold who all smiled kindly at me while I played nicely on their floors! Mum dropped Grandma and I at home and we both had a sleep while Mum then raced off to a chiropractor appointment because she hurt her back when we were in the playground on Saturday. Mum’s back had a muscle spasm and felt a bit better after her treatment, but Uncle Alan got to bath and massage me this evening, with his rough farmer’s hands and I thanked him by weeing on the lounge floor but I know worse things happen to him at the cowshed! After I went to bed Grandad arranged a slide night to look at old slides of Grandma and Grandpas’ wedding a long long time ago!

I woke at midnight for a nappy change and a snuggle before I settled down for a short night until I woke at 5.15. Mum resettled me but after half and hour I decided that it was time for Mum to take me into her bed for my (getting earlier) morning breastfeed. Today we went out for lunch to meet Mum’s friend Judy. She thought I was very cute and brought a clever frog along to keep me amused after I’d finished throwing my vegemite soldiers onto the floor!
I came home for a sleep and afterwards, Mum, Grandma and I went for walk with Lucy and Sam. I was extra perky and giggly after my sleep. We got as far as the maize contractors, working in Grandpa’s maize paddocks and there was a gathering of all the Perrys, 2 motorbikes, 1 pram, 1 dog and 2 goats! Mum got me to bed by 7pm tonight in the hope that it might help me to sleep longer in the morning!

I woke at 5.30 this morning, Mum breastfed me in her bed then I slept a bit (not sure if she did?!) until 8am. After my morning sleep, Mum, Grandpa, Grandma, Jack and I went to Matamata for lunch at Uncle William and Auntie Rose’s house. I’m told that Matamata is really Hobbiton where the hobbits from the Lord of the Rings live, but we didn’t see any today. After lunch, we went for a walk to the park, unfortunately there were no baby sized swings for me, but Mum slid me down the slide which made me laugh! Rose had organised a huge bag of toys for me to play with at their house and I had my afternoon sleep on their bed in my grobag. It was Guy Fawkes night tonight and Alan organised a bonfire at home and some sky rockets and Lauren and Jack slept outside in their tent and had plenty of fun.
This evening, Mum rang Nanna in Sydney to wish her a happy birthday and got Lauren, Jack and everyone to join in the family tradition of singing her Happy Birthday. She didn’t answer her phone, so the singing was recorded on her voicemail!

When I woke from my afternoon sleep, Lauren and Jack were looking at me, they were home from school! Mum, Grandad, Lauren and I went to visit ex-neighbours the Charsleys who now live at Pirongia, mainly to see Mum’s friend Paula and 2 year old Olivia. She wasn’t a very happy girl this afternoon, but Mum took a photo of us playing together and I was very happy in the car to have Lauren sitting next to me and handing me my toys when I threw them overboard.
Thursday, November 03, 2005
While I was sleeping this morning, Mum and Grandad went to help Alan and his neighbour Julie move 50 calves across the road. Luckily Dad wasn’t there otherwise there would have been lots of calf snuggling going on!
Wednesday, November 02, 2005
Alan’s girlfriend, Gail visited today and she also brought me some books from her boys who are older now. Later in the afternoon, Grandma looked after me while Mum and Grandma mowed the lawn. Each time Mum went past the window, I could see her progress and she waved at me. Tonight Mum and Grandma went to the movies to see ‘The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill’ while Grandpa stayed home with me.
Tuesday, November 01, 2005
I woke up this morning with a runny nose and Mum heard me coughing during the night. That wasn’t all the happened during the night, it sounded like someone was tap dancing on our roof but Mum said it was just possums! After lunch, Grandma’s friend Maureen came to visit and brought me a nice Baby Einstein book and took lots of photos of me with different people holding me. She held me and marvelled at me and kept me amused for a long time. Today Mum found out that tickling my ribs makes me giggle!
